NEW PLYMOUTH, Dee. 9. Tlie Auckland Aero Club pilot, Mr. G. f.owson, had a fortunate escape when tlie Rearwin sportster mouoplane he was flying "to New* Plymouth slied its propeller approaching Bell Bloclc field. The pilot was at about 300 feet wlien the aceident occurred and tvas able to make a safe landing. Attention to the aircraft was drawn when the maintenance staff saw black smoke pouring from tlie exhaust. Tlio aircraft landed in tlie far eorner of tho field but wras unable to taxi to tlie hangar. An investigation disclosed that bolts had worked loose.
