MASTERTON, Dec. 10. Restoration has been earried in Masterton No. 6 licence district by a margin of 296 votes over the required three-fifths majority. The hnal count is 6769 for restoration and 4019 for no-licence. A few service votes are outstanding, but they cannot alter the resuit. Nov/ restoration has been earried, the no-licence district will cease to exist from the date of publication, probab1^ Thursdav, of the final resuit of the poll. The area, it appears, will become part of the Wairarapa and of Pahiatua licensing district unless special legislation is brought in to create a new licensing district. The present Wairaraoa and Pahiatua Licensing Committees cannot increase the number of licences without special authority. Only the annual meeting of the licensing committee, which is ht.ld in June, can grantt licences. It is not necessary now to notifv the quantity of liquor brought in.
