Pictures in the course of production at Warner Bros.' studios include "Possessed," starring Joan Crawford, Van Pleflin and Geraldine Brooks; "Pursued," fcaturing Teresa Wright, Robert Mitchum, and Judith Anderson; "Love and Learn," with Jack Carson, Robert Hutton and Martha Vickers in the stellar roles; "The Woman in White," starring Alexis Smith, Gig Young, Eleanor Parker; "My Wild Irish Rose," starring Dennis Morgan, Arlenc Dahl, Andrea King; "Night Unto Night," featuring Viveca Lindfors, Ronald Reagan, Osa Massen, and "Deep Valley" with Waync Morris, Ida Lupino, Dane Clark and Fay Baintcr in the chief roles.
• Famed dancer Fred Astaire is going to opc'n and direct dancing schools with branches all over the world. Astaire, who is 47, said goodbye to lilms in Irving Berlins "Brue Skies," made by Paramount. "I am delighted to be retiring from the screcn," said Astaire. "I went to Hollywood in the first place with no idea that I would be a success." His first film was "Daring Lady," with Joan Crawford, in 1932. He. said that people seldom realiso how much rcal labour goes to a dancing career. Paramount officials hoi i every confidence that "Bliie Skies" will prove popular where /e1' it in shown — in fact they think it will make a "smash hit." Marlcne Dietrich is shopping in Hollywood and lavishly for a complete wardrobe — which she will take to Paris when she makes her next picture there. Marlene's reason is that she is so used to American clothes that she would not feei natural in others.
