FRENCH PREMIERSHIP BALLOT

Received Friday, 10.15 a.m. PARIS, Dec. 5. In a second ballot for the premiership, the Mouvement Republican Populaire candidate, M. Georges Bidault, failed to obtain the minimum of 310 votes required for re-election. M. Bidault was supported by the i M.R.P. and Rightists, and received 240 votes. The Communists, Socialists and Radical Socialists abstained from voting. Earlier M. Maurice Thorez (Communist) withdrew as a candidate for the premiership.
