RUSSIA WANTS PROMISE

Russia stood ready to . sign disarmament .and nomaggression pacts and conclude commercial agreements witli capitalist nations, said Mr. Vyshinsky addressing a Madison Square G-arden rally sponsored tiy the National Council oi American Soviet Friendship. ' 'Trade forms the hasis for agreement. "We need credits and the capitalists need returns on those credits. The Soviet Union always pays promptly on its credits." He called the ' 'iron curtain' ' phrase a stupidity of Goebhels which was taken np by Churchill. ' ' What we are interested in is not having an iron curtain to hide the truth abotit Russia from the rest of the world. Our foreign policy is based on friendly and peaceful cooperation with all friendly nations and States."' Mr. Vyshinsky added that there was a wide basis for agreement between Russia and Amexica in trade as well as diplomacy — a combination of the Russian revolutionary .sweep of action and American efficiency, a guarantee of progress and a promise of a great future for mankind.
