Dozcns of sliops reo]>ened this morning as heavilv armed foot and motorised ptdice with orders to shoot dcinonstrators on sight patrolled the streets in an effort to prevent a recurreuce of the rioting which began after the wholesale arrest of unlicensed ]>avemenr jtedlurs. Manv stores, however, are still elosed, the owners evidcntlv .being fearful of further violence. A munieipal spokesman expressed the opinion that the situation Avas under control and clainied that nobodv was killed. The United Press correspond,ent, however, claims that ' two-.-were killed and at least 140 injured and that sporndic fighting was continuing today.
