Received Suuday, 7.15 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 1. Ashmagaiida, who was purchased in Now.. Zealand for 900 guincas by Maurice McCarten on bchalf of Mr. F. W. Huglies won the iillies' division of the Juvcnile Stakes at Canterbury on Saturday. Ashinaganda is a Nizaini filly. Nizami's Ring, a Nizami colt bouglit in New Zealand for Mr. Huglies, rccently won a race. In Melbourne Baflin Bay, who won the Catani Welter at Flemington on Saturday, is one of 15 horses trained in Melbourne by Mr. F. J. McKay for the New Zealand sportsman Mr. W. T. Hazlett. McKay won the doubie for Mr. Hazlett last Eastcr with Baffin Bay and Maniototo. Mr. Hazlett has not been in Australia for five years, and seldom communicates with" his Melbourne trainer. The former New Zealand horse Stenelaus won the Benevolent Fund Handicap at Flemington, giving the leading jockey Harold Badger a winning doubie. Stenelaus won the Fund Handicap last year on a protest after being beaten by Peter.
