ANOTHER FIRE AT OTAKI
HOUSE BADLY DAMAGED Shortly before ten o'clock last night the fire siren sounded, an atarm navmg been. given for an outbreak of fire at Mr. Tim Bevan's residence in Raukawa Street. The brigade, as tisual. was promptly on the scene, but even at the time the alarm was sounded the fire had a strong hold, and it was almpst imposs'ible to make a save. However, the front portion of the building is standing, although\ badh. gutted, while the contents ^ were destroyed by fire or damaged by water. At the time of the outbreak Mr. and Mrs. Bevan and family were in bed, and the origin of the fire, which started in the rear portion of the building, is a mystery. The building, one of the oldest in Otaki was of three rooms. It blazed merrily and it was only by the fine efforts of the brigade .that even a portion of it was saved., Naturally. Mr. and Mrs. Bevan will suffer coiisiderable loss.
