STRUCK BY TWO-TON TRUCK

Al'CKUAN V, Dec. l. An elderly ntan and his wife were killed almost instantly when they were struck by a two-ton motor truck while they were walldng along the main road between Warkworth and Leigh at about 15.30 011 Saturday eveniug. They were: Artluir Morley, aged 70, a retired farmer, of Leigh. M rs. Helena E\ a yiorley, aged (55, ot Leigh. The eouple were 011 their way to one of the Leigh Social Club's functions in the Leigh Hall which they had attended regularly 011 Saturday nights. They had walked about a quarter of a niile from their home when they were struck by a motor truck 011 a straiglit stretch of road. The truck, which was travel- ■ ling toward the eouple on its way to Warkworth, swerved into the ditch after the collision. The driver, Mr. Roy Stevenson, aged 20, a fartn liand, of Pakiri, who was the only occupant of the truck, was not in jured.
