ASSAULT AT DANCE

MASTERTON, Dec. 2. At the Magistrate's Court today, James Miller, 24. labourer, of Masterton, and Nelson Sullivan, 21, labourer, of Masterton, were charged with having assaulted John Andrew Riddeli. of Hastings, who is in business at Napier, outside the Wairarapa College assembly hall on Saturday night while a dance was being held. The evidence showed that Miller had been in a military camp at Dannevirke, where Riddeli was an officer. In his evidence, Riddeli alleged that outside the assembly hall Miller said to him, "You have pushed me around in the past, but you won't do it again," and then attacked him. Miller was sentenced to one month's imprisonment and Sullivan was fined £7 10s with £2 10s costs.
