Received Monday, 11.15 a.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 1. Carrying 4000 naval and civilian personnel of Rear-Admiral Byrd's task force "High Jump," eight vessels will leave Norfolk, Virginia, ana three from San Diego, California, tomorrow on history's greaUfest expedition to the Antarctic. TRe carrier Philippine Sea is scheduled to leave about January 1, carrying transport planes. Altliough the mission is schedulea to last only five months, enough L being taken for eight months. Finn Ronne, a retired Unitgc, States naval commander, who has accompanied Rear-Admiral Byrd oi. polar explorations, has been selected to lead a privately-financec scientific expedition to the Anyarc tic. Ronne is taking only one small ship and twenty men, and will leave the United States in January. He is expected to return wichin thirteer. months.
