Captain F. H. Childs, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Childs, of Salisbury Street, Levin, who is with' the Commonwealth Occupa'tion Forces in Japan, has been promoted tp the rank of major- Major. Childs was commissioned in N.Z.S.Q. in December, 1943, after graduating from the R.M.C. Duntroon, Austral'ia, and almost immediately proceedmg tgi Italy, and in March, 1945, was pror, moted captain. ' •
