INTER CLUB CRICKET
MATCH WITH PALMERSTON NORTH During the weekend the local cricket team journey ed to Palmerston North to play a friendly matcb with a team representing the Palmerston North Railways. Palmerston North batted first and were d' smissed for-a total of 177 runs. Sutton (86), Lockwood (36) and Fenton (29) were the top scorers. For the visitors, Tippler took four wickets and Harris three. When the local team went to the wicket they succeeded in replying with 116 runs, B. Harris contributing 36, Hermansson 24 and Satherley 22. Bowling for Railways, Lockwood and Sutton took three wickets each. Only one innings each was played and the Railways team won by 61 runs. On completion of play, Mr. Redshaw, representing the Railways team, thanked the Shannon Club for coming along and congratulated thcm on their fine innings. Mr. Redshaw pointed out that his team was fortunate in having Mr. Sutton on its side, and his 84 runs was rcsponsible for winning the match. Without him the Shannon , team would have won by 'a good jmargin. On behalf of the local club, Mr. V. Tippler replied and j thanked the RailwayS team for a most enjoyable day, and expressed ! a hope that the team would visit Shannon in the very near future.
