BIG ABSENTEE VOTE
AUCKLAND, Nov. 28. A widelv circulated rumour in tlie ci'ty that an alteratiou to the provisional count for Parnell electorate had given tlie Labour candidate and Speakcr of the Housc (Mr. P. A\r. Sehrainm) a majority over Mr. D. N. Rae (National) who was lcading by 50 votes, had no fouiulation. ?As at least 907 absentee, postal and seamen's votes have yet to be included the futurc of the seat is very much in doubt, but the provis ional figures will stand until tho official count is completed, possibly in about 1 10 days' time. Postal, absentee and declaration votes which have to be checked with the Registrar of Electors, are suffic.ient to affect the result in several seats in Auckland cit.y and province. Already they total over 1000 iu some of these electorates and returning officers were still receiving absentee notificationg late this afternoon.
