SPREAD OF TROUBLE FEARED

Reeeived Tlmrsdav, 9.45 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 28. The spread of the dock dispute and the possibilitv of trouble 011 two otlier industrial fronts, appeared likely today. The extension of the dock dispute to lie up mines and other industries was threatened if the Government did not intervene in the lockout. This threal was madc by the Federated Engine Drivers' and Firenien's Association tvhich sent a telegram to Air. Ghifiey urging an immediate Roval Gonunission to inquire into tlie closing down of the dockyard. Tlie telegram said that tlu* association had been asked to eonsider extending the dispute to tlie coal and j other industries. Tliey claim that "Ihe judge reduced a' "dusted" miner's compensation from £4 15s to £8 weekly. Tliey contend that Ihe State medical boa'rd certilied the miner totally incapacitated and the eompanv had ofTered retrospective payments, imt when the claim canie before the Gompeiisation Gonunission, Judge Rainbow disallowed retrospective payments and reduced tlie pension. Threal of trouble in the transport unions follows the rejection bv tlie Board of Reference, of the Tram and ,Bns Employees' Union of an applicafion for overtime rates for week-end work — time and a-half for Saturday and double time for Sundav.
