LOCAL AND GENERAL
Control of Water Heaters Work has commenged on the erection of a pilot line to control the electric water heaters in the borough. The job, which is being carried out by linesmen of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, is expected to be completed in about a monrh. Tar Sealing of Highway The Main Highways Board is at present working on the Ballace Street c'orner, liear the' domain, where tar sealing' operations are being carried out. A large portion of what was formerly a dangerous corner has been cut off, and when the sealing is completed an excellent piece of roadway will be the result. Workmen of the Shannon Borough Council are also "busy repairing the surface of a number of the streets. Metal has been placed on many of the unsealed streets, and holes are being filled m the sealed streets.
