BATTING SENSATIONS
M.C.C. Batsmen Go Cheaply Received Monday, 11.15 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 25. The morning's piay in the Queens-land-M.C.C. match was a succession of sensations as the wickets of the four to,p-line England hatsmen tumhled with meagre additions to the total. Despite a valient effort hy Edrich playing with a mixture of audacity and caution England 's first innings finished just hefore tea 90 runs short of Queensland's. The day's play cnded mueli as it began with Queensland wickets falling quickly and at stumps M.C.C. had partly retrieved tlieir losses. With a full day remaining for play tlie visitors niust be conceded a cliance yet of snatchiug victory. Evidence that the wicket was favouring the spin bowlers was provided in Queensland 's second innings when Smitli and Wright between them brought the downfall of the live best batsinen, but thouglx they were bowling with more venom tlian on Friday and Saturday their success was partly due to Queensland eft'orts to force the pace. The loss of so many quick wickets iinpelled Tallon to alter the batting order and send Johnson in late in the aftcruoou with instructions to hold up his wicket, lioping that the remaining batsmen, Mackay, Young and Archcr, can set a good lotal on the concluding day. With thc promiso of continued iino weather the match should havc an interesting linish. Scoroa: — M.C.C. First Innings.
