WIND CAUSES CROP HAVOC

Received Sunday, 7 p.m. ADEEA1DE, Xov. i54. The damage to the York Peninsula "barley crops hy a searing northvesterly wind yesterday was estimated at £1,000,000 hy the Minister of Lands, Mr. Hincks. Serious damage was confined to the peninsula which is the 'principal harley-producing area of South Australia. Mr. Hincks said the average crop losses were 70 per cent. r.nd many fanners had given up hope of harvesting. Any loss will have a serious eti'ect on Australian heer snpplies next year.
