B.A.O.Ti. lieadquarters ' control commission annoiuiced that it is establi.shing a ni'iv type of penal settlement in (iermany to deal with hard-core Xazi party offieials. The settlement will be used for foriner S.S. and S.A. oifieials whose families, if the plaus (levelop satisfaetorily, may be free to eonie and go at will. Tlie internees wiil do work of nat ional inqiorlance sueh as 'land drainage. The. time of interninent may be reduceil for good behaviour. The oftieer resjionsible will be Brigadier Patoa Walsh, fornier Hovernor of Wamlsworth prisou and now liead of the control commission 's legal division. Brigadier Walsh explained that about. (50,001) persons were at present held in internment canqis. fhese were being vetted and it was expected a large number will be released. The new camp will })ossibly contain 10,000 to 1.1,000. The eanip will be as self-support n g as possible. Brigadier Walsh at lirst will nominate internees to administrative fiosts and later, if the internees show they are developing the democratic idea, he will perinit them to elect their own oflicers.
