Eighteen-year-old Erin de Selfu, oroadcasting in the British Hroadcasting Corporation Overseas Service. Erin originally came to Eng.and to continue the work of enter- ! taining the Forces which she had oeen doing for four years in India and Ceylon. For that work — sing:ng and dancing for troops in the jungle, in hospitals, ships and aircraft carriers — she reeeived recog-
nition from Lord Louis Mountbatfcen and from General Wetherall, Commander-in-Chief in Ceylon. In London she appeared at the Stage Door Canteen and the Nuffteld Services Club, and started on a stage and film career, taking part in the Jack Hylton revue "For Crying out Loud" and in the screen production "Caravan." She "started professional dancing i when she was little more than 13 years old and later did cabaret work at big hotels in Colombo, and also broadcast over the Colombo radio.
