Personal Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Humphrey have left Shannon to go farming in ohe Pahiatua district. Mrs. C. Guerin, who reeeived the news of the sudden passi'ng of her father, Mr. W. M. Gamle, left by air fbr Blenheim on Sunday. Mr. Harold. Hook and his daugh^er, Miss Dawn Hook, left Shannon yesterday afternoon for Auckland, and will sail on Saturday for Australia. They intend spending two, months in Australia before return-' ing to South Africa. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Bibby, of Julyan Stfeet, have pleasure in announcing the engagement of their only daughter, Marjorle Joy, to Murray Thomas, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Christian, of Awahuri. After a period of nearly nine months in the Palmerston North Hospital, the greater part of which she' was very ill, Miss Shirley Easton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Easton, Newtown, has progressed to the extent that it is probable that she will be returning to her home this week. Successful Southdown Breeder Mr. G. W. Munford, of Pretoria Road, has had outstanding ' suctesses recently with his Southdown sheep. At the recent Carterton show he had the honour of gaining he following awards: — Two chamDionships, two reserve championihips, one gold medal for the best •am hogget, nine first prizes in various classes and one second. At the recent Manawatu A. and P, 3how, Mr. Munford gained one first, two seconds, three thirds and fhree v.h.c.'s. Two of these were ?ained in classes where there were .welve or more entries.
