CRICKET AGAIN OFF
Received Monday, 7.20 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 18. There was no play again today in tlie iuatcli between England and New South Wales. Yesterday was fine and the wicket had recovered. The captains inspected the pitch at 11 a.m. and decidcd to play but siinultaucously with their decision fine rain commenced and was stiil falling at 3 p.m. wlicn it was decided to abandon play for the day. This curtailment of the game is particularly unfortunate for the home batsmen who are short of practice for the first test commencing on November 29. The Australian team for the test is to be announced tomorrow night. Cricket writers in Australian papers consider nine men are certain of selection. They are Morris, Bradman, Barnes, Hassett, Miller, Tallon McCool, Lindwall, and Toshack. With Brown's withdrawal the position of opening bat to partner Morris is expected to be given to Harvey. The remaining place may go to Ian Jolmson, Tribe, Freer or Dooland. England 's team is not likeiy to be announced until the day before the match.
