Fine Bowling Green Speaking during games at the Otaki Railway Bowling Club's green at the weekend, Mr. W. F. Hadwin, president of the Wellington Centre, stated that he' considered the club's green the best in the Wellington district. This remark was endorsed by other visitors. Motor Cycle Races The Ixion Motor Cycle Club's beach race meeting at Waikanae, postponed from a fortnight ago because of bad weather, will now be held next Saturday, the. first race commencing at 1 p.m. A large number of riders will contest 1 events, and for those without transport, a bus will leave the Cenotaph, Wellington, at 11 a.m. 'Kapiti Golf Club | Tne Kapiti Cup was contested at | the Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club's iiinks on Saturday. The winner, H. ' D. Udy (Otaki), had a clear-cut victory, returning a net 66. Other good scores were returned by D. S. Marsden (Hokowhitu) 75, W. S. Lochhead (Paraparaumu Beach) 76 and J. B. Young (Paraparaumu Beach) 77. The afternoon bogey trophy was won by W. Stern (Shannon), all square. Old Photograph An old photograph shown to a "Chronicle" representative discloses that the Governor-General's interest in football dates back 'far veyoiid his association with the ! 1924 All Blacks, the formation of jthe Kiwi team, and his presencedn |rugby this season. Back in 1913 he jwas a member of the Horowhenua representative team, and he is in I this photograph, together with j Henare Tahiwi, late of Otaki, J. j Sciascia, of Levin, and several other well-known footballers.
