COAL STRIKE THREATENED
Received Sundav, 7 p.m. WASHLNGTON, rNov. 17. The Government, anticipating a strike by 400,000 miners, has frozen all stocks of soft eoal. The United Press says that evidenee is growing that the Government. is ready for a fight if the | United Aline Workers' Association pres j ident, Alr. J'ohn L. Lewis, wants oue. j Alr. Leivis is reported to have demauded that the new contract provide- tlie same pay for the forty hour week as the miners are at present receiving for 54 hours.
