Received. Saturday, 10.55 a.m. ^ LONDON, Nov. 15. Senior Mflitary Government officers in Dusseldorf stated that ,- vthe north Rhine and Westphalia U ■ region of the British zone will receive 16,000 tons of wheat from American stocks in the Bremen reg'ion, of which 6000 tons has already been loaded on trains. Some 8000 tons of wheat arrived at Rotterdam yesterday from the United States. Dockers unloaded it in thirteen hours, which is claimed to be a world record. It is now en route to the Ruhr in barges. Reuter's Dusseldorf correspondent says a spokesman emphasised that flour stocks in the region are still not enough to last for two days. A German trawler lugger is travelling from Hamburg to East Anglian herring ports, which are glutted with fish, and other vessels will leave shortly. Air Chief Marshal Sir Sholto Douglas said the Americans had promised to help out the British zone food shortage, and after the next fortnight the position should improve. "We are at present living from hand to mouth, but there is a reasonable prospect of keeping up the present 1550 calories. The American supplies will doubtless carry us on until discussion with the American offlcials produces what we really want — large-scale shipments of grain." Reuter's, quoting feports reaching Switzerland, states that the bread ration in the French zone has been reduced from 104 to seven ounces daily.
