JURY'S CONCERN AT SEXUAL OFFENCES

NEW PLYMOTJTH, Nov. 14. "We view with great eoneern the increasing number of sexual charges and recommend that more drastic action be taken in these cases," stated a rider from a jury, presented in the Supreme Cotirt at New Plymouth tonight, after Govindan Nair, an Indian student from Fiji, aged between 21 and 22 years, had been found guilty on two charges of-un-natuj-al offences against a boy aged 15 years. The Hon. Mr. Justjce Fair said the recommendation would be sent to tlie Minister of Justice. "I entirely agree that, all measnres possible should be taken to reduee this type of offence," said His Honour. "It is a type of crime that fortirnatelv has not been prevalent to a large extent in New Zealand 1 ut in other countries there has been a good deal of it and it seems to hare mcreased there in recent vears.
