During the past 4 months 1 3, 3.83 men. and women enroiled witli the department for employment while in the same period the outflow from the enroil ed register has been 13,762. AIcLagan said 4440 vacaneies for males and 14S7 for. femaies or 5936 in all, were notilied to the department dur ing. October while during tliis. ppriod vacaneies disposed of ntnnberad /3444 for males and 1150 for femalcs g'iving on overall total for the month ofv 4603 Over the past 4 months 24,128 new vacaneies were advised to the dcpart nient. In the same period, 10,872 vacaneies were filled or otherwise dealt with. On the average *over the past four months, 3346 workers liad been coming nionthlv to the department seelcing as sistance in obtaining employment while at the same time employers had been advising an average oaeh month of 6032 new vacaneies.
"These Ogures indicate that the posi tion is far from being static and that on the eontrary, the department 's ser vicos are being sought today on a wide scale both by employers who are seeking suitable labour, and by workers who are seeking ' satisfactory employment. Although the department 's facilities are being extensivelv availed of, I would like to see even greater use being made of them both by employers and employees,"' said Mr. MeLagan. "In particular, 1 would stress that various distriet employment offices throughout the country, today holcl information relating to a wide range of jobs offering. Every effort is made by my officers only to oifer to every worker who calls fu'll information relating® to jobs olfering but also to meet the needs of employers for the labour tbey require, to the maximum 'extent that it can be loeated. "
