COUNCIL OF SPORT
FIRST OFFICERS ELECTED There vyas a fair attendance of delegates at last night's meeting of :he Levin Council of Sport when ,he officers for the ensuing year were elected. This- organisation has as its objects the encouragenient and fostering of all brancne^ of sport and the provision of facilities for them. Among the ciubs represented last night were the Levin Ladies' Bowling Club, Levin Swimming Club, Tui Sports Club, Athletic Football Club, Levin Miniature Rifle Club, Ajax Softball Club, Levin Combined Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club and the Achilles Sports Club. Several other clubs have also signified their intention of jcining the council. The meeting decided that the subscription for each club to join the council would be £1 ls per year, and that the Levin Council affiliate with the New Zealand Council of Sport. The election of officers resulted as f ollows : — Patron : Mr. L. G. Lowry.. M.P. ; president: Mr. W. Cribb; vice-presidents: Mrs. D. Hartstonge and Mr. F. D. Chainey; secretary: Mr. E. J. Stanley; treasurer: Mr. A. Pike; executive committee: Mrs. D. I-Iartstonge and Messrs. W. Cribb, E. J. Stanley, A. Fletcher and A. Pike. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 4.
