ACUTE CLOTHING SHORTAGE
; Received Tuesdav, 7.0 p.m. BYDNEY, Nov. 12. Australia will fac'e the worst elothing sliortage in its history by JuJv 1047, aceording to rationing ollicials i'11 Alolbourne. Glothing eoupons munber ing 112 to be issuecl next month, will liave to last two years. Australia is consuming elothing materials at a greater rate than they can be produced. The ration may be redueed before ATuly. The value of Australian eoupons differs considerably from that of New Zealand eoupons. Blioos, socks and other articles are unrationed but a suit takes 3(1 coiqions, an overcoat 40, a dress 15, shirt 12, unlined sports coat 12' and slacks 10. Officials sav the main reasons for Ihe inereasing shortages are the deeline in stocks due to lack of skilled labour, the increased demand cansed by the return to eivilian lil'e of 500,00(1 servicemen and women, and the fal] in imports below quantities ordered.
