NEW EDUCATION ACT WANTED
ACCKLAKD, Kov. G. A resolulion su^gesting the introduction of a • new Education Act, was passed by tlie Auckland Education Boanl. A letter had been reeeived by Ihe boanl from the Canterburv Lducation Boanl, forwardiag a resolution sug gesting tlie introthiction of an Education Bill in 1947. The idea was to incorporale all aiueiidmeiits to Ihe Education Act and facilitate tlie re organisation of the education system to meet new conditions and provide elfective nieans fpr expediting educatioual reforms alveadv eonmienced and otliers deemed desirable. Although the Auckland Board did not wisli to commit itself lo endorsing the partieular reforms mentioned by the Canterbnry Board, it agreed that revision and consblidation were necessary,
