COMING OF AGE CELEBRATION
The Te Horo Hall recently was ifilled with relatives and friends from Wellington, Palmerston North, Levin and surrounding districts, who had assembled at the invitation of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Cottle to celebrate the coming-of-'age of their second daughter, Beryl. The evening was spent in dancing to the spirited music supplied by Mrs. McGowan and her son, of Wellington. After supper the toast to the guest of the evening was proposed by Mr. W. G. Simpson, of Wellington, and was most hearfily responded to by all present, after which Mr. Cottle presented his daughter with the traditional key. Migs Cottle, who wore a cream lace frock over cream taffeta, and a shoulder spray of pink carnations, lilac and maidenhair fern, then rose amid cheers. She thanked Mr. Simpson for all the kind things he had said, her parents for the wonderful party they had given her Tnd each and everyone for all the beautiful gifts they had showered upon her. During the lighting of the candles "I'm Twenty-one Today" was sung, followed by "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow." Scveral telcgrams were received and also a cablegram from San Francisco from Lieutenant-Com-mandcr and Mrs. Cleghorn (nee Miss Margaret Simpson, of Wellington. Dancing conlinued until the early hours, when the singing of' "Auld Lang Syne" brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
