Reeeived Thursday, 11 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 6. The communal situation in Bombay deteriorated yesterday, says "The Times" correspondent. Five were killed and 34 knifed. Fourteen reeeived acid burns. Three religious places were desecrated and a few shops looted. The Governor of Bombay has authorised the formation of home guards to heip the police deal with communal disturbances. The home guards will be subject to police discipline, but will not be paid. Reuter's Bombay correspondent reports that the police fired fortyone times to disperse crowds in different parts of the city today. One was killed and eight injured. For the first time in weeks, the Calcutta police reported that the night passed off without incident.
