Mr. Laing said he did not propose to tell the publie how to save New Zealand but only to try to save it from humbugs. He had been attacked froin the shelter of Parliament. This was a Parliamentarian's jjrWilcge. There were some who used it in attacking publie servants like himself in his position as general inspector of Goverument motor veliicles. He asked that on November 27 the electors make Mr. Nash not "The Wizaxd of Oz" but "The Wizard that Woz". "I am not anti-Labour. I stand 100 per cent behind the policy as enunciated by Mr. Savage, ' ' Mr. Laing co^tinued. There seemed, he said, a grave doubt as to Labour' s re-election and the reason was Mr. Nash. "My object in Standing is to do some useful service for the country. If I can only shift Walter Nash from Hutt - 1 will have done a service to New Zealand. I will also have;dqne a great service 'to the Labour Party, I say that in ali. sincerity. No one has sabotaged the implementation of the Labour policy" so well as Mr. Nash." The speaker critieised the Finance Minister 's "somersault over the Bank of New Zealand" and made numerous other comments on transactions of the Labour Party. Ile went on to deal extensively with his allegations concerning motor vehicles sent to the Pa'cific as presented to the recent Commission.
