WELLINGTON CLUB'S SUMMER PROGRAMME

The Wellington Raciiig Club will give £49,750 iu stukes for its four-day Cup meeting at Trentham in January. The distribution will be as folloxvs: — Eirst day, £8290; second day, £12,199; third day, £10,(500; fourth day, £9850. The largest stake is £5000 aud gold cup valued at £100 for the Wellington Cup, ruu on the second day. The club has introduced two new races to its summer programme. On the second day there will be the Desert Gold Stakes for three-year-old fillies, oue mile, and on the third da'y the Gloaming Stakes for tkree-year-olds . (both sexes), oue mile and a half. The Trentham Stakes, 11 furlongs at weigkt-for-age, on the last day will carry a stake of £3000. The maximum weight for the Wellington Cup has been raised to 9.12. There will be a race for two-year-olds each day. Mixed sexes will race on the iirst and last days, fillies only on the second day, and colts and geldings only on the third day. The distance each day is six furlongs. Maideus will be eligible for entry in tlio liack races each day exceptiug in the Douro Handicap. Hacks will not be eligible for entry in Lhe opou races.
