WBiuuxurux, jxov. o. Government experts are study ing the possibilitv of Antarctic whaling b'eihg established as a Xew Zealand industry. They are expected to make reeommendations to the Government on the praetical "and financial aspects aud such questions as the amouut of assistance the State might be prepared to give, singly or in collaboration with the British Government, in setting up a whaling industry based on the Doininion. The whaling industry has great IV declined from tlie importaut position it occupied in tlie early colonial vears of Xew Zealand, only oue shore station being in commercial operation now. This is in Tory Channel, Queen Chal--lotte Sound, and its catches are made from comparatively nearby vaters.
