DEPUTATION TO MINISTER The establishment of a maternity hospital and casualty ward in Levni Was recently taken up by the. Levin branch Of the Manawatu Trades Gouncil. . The vafious lo'cal bbdies and interested organisations were Circiilarised and ihvited t'o appointrepresentatives to a meeting, with a View to forming a deputation to the Minister of Health to represent the matter to him. As was to be expected in a case 'of such urgency and importance, all the bodies circula'fis'ed have iiidiCat'ed their whole-hearted support of th'e proposal, ahd have appoihted representatives to attend the meeting when it is held. The Levin branch of the Manawatu Trades Cou'ncil rec'ently Corhmunicated with Mr. J. Thorn, M.F., asking him to endeavour to arrange a date with the Minister for hihi "to receive a deputation. A r'eply has how been received from Mr. Thorn, pointing out that owing to the 'election it would not be possible to arrange the d'eputation until that Was over. The branch will .pursUe the matter as soon as the electibn is over, and When the date has be'en fixed with the Minister the meeting of the representatives appointed will be called to form the deputation.
