HASTINGS, Nov. 4. A rare family record tliat niight be unique in New Zealand, lias been achieved by the birtli of a girl in Hastings last week, for this child re'presents the fifth generation and can claim a great great grandfather still living together with the intermediate parents on her mother* s side. What is more interesting is that all tive representatives of these generations are New Zealand born. The head of this interesting family tree is Mr. George Lomas, of Wellington, formerly a blacksmith in Waipukurau and prominent Hawkes Bay Rugby player in his day. He is now 86 years of age and today he is a great great grandfather. Next comes Mrs. E. Sourdon, of Napier, who was bom in Wellington 65 years ago. She is noV a great grandmother. The thitrd generation is represented by Mrs. Ji-Mprpney. pf1 Hastings, who, was born in:.'Tf^Sting&' 43" ye'ars ago.j She is the grandmother. Next comes Mrs. Moroney's eldest child, Mrs. D. Hislop, Otane, who was born in Napier 23 years ago. This is the fourth generation. Finally there is the child born in Hastings last week who can claim surviving parentage for four generations.
