Candidate Withdraws Mr. T. P. Hackett, who had | announced that he would stand* as an Independent Labour candidate for Invercargill ■ at the General Election, has decided to withdraw. His reason is that he thinks there would be very little support for a third candidate. The Winterless North For 24 hours to 8 o'clock yesterday morning 2.44 inches of rain were recorded at Whangarei.
