LIQUOR NEAR DANCE HALL

SUBSTANTXAL FINES AT OTAKI In the Otaki Court on Thursday, John G. Hercock, Selwyn Hughes, Norman Johnson, Ian Souter and Pat Webster were charged before Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., with having liquor in the vicinity of a dance nall, namely, at Te Horo. Webster was the only one to ippear and he was represented by vlr. C. F. Atmore, who explained chat Webster had decided to plead guilty. After a party, Webster had gone to Paraparaumu and later to fe Hor.o where the police found iiquor in his car. Constable Calwell stated that he had visited the dance at Te Horo on August 21 when he found the defendants in possession of liquor. Hercock had been previously convicted. Mr. Goulding imposed fines of £5 each in the case ,of Hercock and Hughes, £3 each in the case of Johnson and Souter, while Webster was fined £1, with costs in each case.
