JURY FINDS FOR HUSBAND

Damages ainounting to £650 were jawarded against Arthur William j Tews, farmer, of Otaki, who was | cited as co-respondent in a divorce action which has occupied the ! attention of the Supreme Court at ' Palmerston North during the past two days. The action was brought by Reginald Richard Day, labourer, of Otaki, who sought a divorce , from his wife, Winnifred May Day, 1 on the grounds of adultery with Tews, and claimed £1000 damages from the co-respondent. Day was represented by Mr. A. J. ■ Mazengarb, and, with him, Mr. L. , G. Rose, both of Wellington. .Mr. L. Laurenson appeared for Mrs. . Day, wlfile Tews was represented by Mr. W. E. Leicester, of Wellington. After the hearing of lengthy evi- | dence and eross-examination, Mr. i Justice Cornish, who presided, reduced the matter to three issues for consideration by the jury of : twelve The jury returned with a ; verdict that adultery had occurred between Mrs. Day and Tews at Palmerston North on May 23, 1946, and : awarding Day the sum of £650 i damages, with costs against the corespondent. A decree nisi to be moved absolute after three months was granted to Day, His Honour intimating ' that he would take time to consider the question of the custody of the , three children, for which Day had . made application.
