Person al Misses Dulcie and Noela Taylor are at present spending a holiday in Auckland:. The friends of Mr. W. A. Hamilton, at present in the Palmerston North Hospital, will regret to learn that he is on the seriously ill list. Private Henry Meads, who has been in Japan, is at present in Otaki, but expects to return at an early date. Mr. "Ted" Egdell is another overseas visitor to Otaki. The death occurred in the Palmerston North Hospital on Monday, at the' age of 44 years, of Mr. George Thomas ("Wei") Gordon. The deceased gentleman was a so:i of Mr. George Gordon, of Otaki, and was born and educated in Otaki. He was well known, his quiet and unassuming manner making many friends for him. The late Mr. Gordon only entered hospital on Sunday. The funeral will take place at Otaki tomorrow, following a service at the Catholic Church. Flower Show Preparations are being made by the Otaki H. and D. Society to make the annual rose show, to be held on November 12, a great success. Considerable interest is being shown by members and, it only needs the backing of local growers to make the display a credit to the district. Schedules are now available. Mrs. Thorn Entertained Mrs. J. Thorn, who accompanied her husband, Mr. Thorn, M.P., 011 his election tour to Otaki on October 22, was the guest at an afternoon held in her honour at Mrs. Percival's home in Mill Road, where her personal charm and sincerity won many friends. Herself an ardent supporter of the cause, she delivered an interesting and instructive address on the humanitarian ideals of Labour. It is hoped that Mrs. Thorn will visit Otaki again in the near future.
