Mr. McLagan will continue to hold his portfolio as Minister of National Service, and will remain on the Executive Council. Mr. McLagan's resignation from the Legislative Council, td which he was appointed in 1942, is necessary to permit his nomination as the Labour candidate for .the Riccarton seat. Mr. McLagan has acted as leader of the council. He was appointed Minister of National Service in 1942.
