STOCK VALUES AT WESTFIELD

♦ . AUCKLAND, Oct. 23. Beef values were very lirm at Westfield fat stock sale when average nuinliers sold to a ready demand. Sheep were penned in average numbers and there was steady competition, prime wethers improving slightly in value while prime ewes sold at late quotations. Spring lambs were penned in sinaller numbers than last week and realised high values. There was a goou yarding of calves aud bidding was keeu for all classes with values firm at late quotations. Fewer porkers were yarded. Prices are still high and feeders cannot obtain their requirements. A good yarding of bacon met keen sale at late rates.

Choppers also are selling freely and prices were above schedule. Beef. Extra choiee ox to £3 per 100 1b., choice and prime £2 16s to £2 19s, ordinary ox £2 12s to £2 15s. Extra prime young cow and heifer to £2 13s, choice and prime £2 9s to £2 12s. ordinary cow beef £2 3s to £2 8s. Extra heavy prime steers £23 to £24 15s, heavy £21 to £22 17s 6d, medium £19 to £20 17s Od, light £17 to £18 17s dd, small and unfinished £14 to £16 17s 6d. Extra heavy prime cow and heifer £14 to £15, heavy prime cow £12 to £13 17s 6d, medium £10 to £11 17s Od, light £7 12s Od to £9 15s, small unfinished £4 10s to £7 10s. Sheep.
