MAN AND WIFE HELD

MURDER OF DETECTIVE PERTH, Oct. 23. Following the shooting of a detective in a Perth street, Sydney Hammond, aged 26, car painter, and his wife, Cecilia Dursley Hanunond, agea 18, have heen charged with murder. They were remanded. An examination reveals that the detective was first shot in the heart hy the man who sat heside him in the hack seat of the police car. Mortr.lly wounded and hleeding internally, the detective sprang from the car and chased the man until he was shot down almost at the feet of his assaiiant, hy three more hullets.
