LEFT GAS RING TAP ON
4. — . AUCKLAND, Oet. 23. "Tliis appears to be another of those unfortunate cases of accidental death due directlv to the uncertainty of the gas supply," said the Coroner, Mr. 'Aildison, when coneluding an inquest into Ihe death of Augustus Joannes Luiten, a earpenter, aged 62, who was found dead in bed on October 14. Evidence was given that the tap of the gas ring in liis room was on when deceased was found. The room smelt strongly of gas. "There is not tlie slightest suggestion that deceased intended to eause liis own death. On the contrary the evidence verv definitely points to mis- j ad venture," continued the coroner.' "This unfortunate liian's death, follow ing so closely on at least three deaths •under similar circnrustances, emphasises again the need for speeial care in seeing that alF jets are turned off during: these davs of irregular and uneertain ! gas supply." | The coroner found that death was! caused by poisoning as the result ofl accidental inhalation of coal gas.
