The presence of mind of a small boy, Richard Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Taylor,- in goin'g, to the assistance of the s cho ol-^ mivs t"r ess , Miss D. W. White, when she fainted and fell into an open fire at the Ihakara E'chooi on Aug'uSt 19, was r'eferred to- by the Mayor (Mr. 11. B. Burdekin) , at the Levin Borough ; Council.'s meeting last eveningv He said that, as suggested by the council, he had' taken the qnestioh of ■ suitaJfefe recogni'tion Up' with the Department of Ihternal A-ffairs. A reply had been received from the . citep'artmeht that it did not make such awards, but the details had bben forwarded to the Royal Humane Society.
