CONDITION OF SALEYARDS
MATERIAL NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS Commenting on the reRort published recently that at the last Shannon stock sale buyers and dealers expressed dissatisfaction at the condition of the yards, Mr. J. Elvidge, of Abraham and Williams, Ltd., stated that his firm had recently spent about £70 in work, which was the limit to which they were allowed to go with the present material shortages. Tney were quite prepared and had endeavoured to procure cement and timber to considerably improve conditions, but had been told that these materials could not be made available for such work until the supply position was "less acute. Dealing with the problem of stock being left in the yards, Mr. Elvidge said that his firm did not lock the yards because many of their clients desired to use them between Saies for drafting and other purposes, and it would be a hardship on them if the yards were locked."
