WOMEN'S DIVISION

OTAKI-TE HORO BRANCH The Otaki — Te Horo branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers celebrated their 19th birthday recently in the Te Horo Hall. The perfect day drew a large and representative gathering, which included many visitors from other branches and members of the Women's Institute. The afternoon opened with the creed and the singing of the division song. The president, Mrs. Walker, welcomed all visitors and apologies were received from those unable to be present. Two clever and amusing competitions, conducted by Mrs. Thorpe, caused much fun. The afternoon quickly passed solving these and listening to Miss Avery's delightful rendering of two songs, and to two clever recitations by Mrs. Malcolm Holmes. An attractive gift presented by the president of the Te Horo Women's Institute (Mrs. Grant) was competed for and won by Mrs. Johnson. A sponge cake donated by Mrs. Jenkins was annexed by. Mrs. Eagle. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the committee and the bcautiful birthday cake made and iced by Mrs. Jenkins, the provincial president. It was cut by representatives of all the branches, who extended good wishes to the celebrating branch, A bring-and-buy slall was weil stocked with produce, which sold readily, and a eollection box in aid of the lepers' fund was wel) supported. All present spent a very enjoyabfe afternoon.
