The storm also swept up the West Coast beaches yesterduy, being accompanied by hailstones of unusual size. At Waikanae the beaeh was a vast sheet of hailstones so tliick that little sand could be seen. Several water spouts were seen in the vieinitv of Kapiti Island: There was a heavy fall of snow on tlie high i'augcs behind Otaki.
