FAREWELL AFTERNOON

A farewell afternoon was held by the Otaki Women's Institute in the Anglican Hall on Thursday afternoon in honour of Mesdames Harrington, Berry and Adamson, who are leaving the district. . Mrs. Burnley presided over a good attendance of members. Mrs. Ashwin rendered two enjoyable songs. A competiti'on, guessing song titles from impromptu sketches, was won by. Mrs. McConville and the best sketch by Mrs. White. Elocutionary items were given by Mesdames Harrington, McConville and Miss Mills. A dainty afternoon tea was then served, after which Mrs. Lumley presented each of the guests with a shoulder spray and a gift, wishing them every happiness in their new surroundings. A very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
